The gOE team is beginning a research effort to help ensure that workers can safely escape from mines when problems arise. We will examine the social, physical, psychological, and cognitive aspects of self-escape tasks.
Findings from this effort will lead to recommendations to help create a system that increases the likelihood of successful escape. Our recommendations may include modifying tasks; using tools/technology/equipment more effectively; or changing training requirements or methods. Similar to our prior work in the medical, military, firefighting, and cruise line industries, this project is critical because proper readiness helps saves lives
